Women Police Officers in United Nations Peacekeeping Missions

On October 21, 2020, at Board Hotel in Jahorina, the RS MoI Women Network-RS WPON, supported by Trag Foundation from Belgrade, organized a round table “Women Police Officers in Peacekeeping Missions” within the project “Institutional Support”. The participants of the round table were women police officers of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior interested into the procedures related to the participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions. The relevant guidelines and experiences were shared by the trainers, Srdjan Stojaković, Gordana Mitrović and Iskra Stojcinović.

Workshop “Family Violence Risk Assessment and Risk Management”

On October 13/14 and 19/20, 2020 a representative of the RS MoI Women Network-RS WPON, Željka Mileusnić, took part as a speaker at the workshop “Family Violence Risk Assessment and Risk Management” which was held at hotel Kardijal, Teslić. The workshop was organized by “Lara” Foundation from Bijeljina as an interactive training with the representatives of the subjects of protection, i.e. the police, centers for social work, prosecutor’s offices and non-governmental sector. Alongside with the Network member, speakers were, also, a prosecutor from the District Prosecutor’s Office Bijeljina and a psychologist, Amela Bašić-Tomić, from “United Women” Foundation, Banja Luka.

MEETING WITH UNDP BIH REPRESENTATIVES

A meeting between representatives of the RS MoI Women Network and UNDP BiH representatives took place on October 16, 2020 in the premises of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior. The meeting discussed the cooperation between the Association RS MoI Women Network and UNDP BiH in “PILLAR” project which will be implemented from January 2021 to June 2023 and which is planned to support women’s empowerment, stronger role of women police officer networks, and the promotion of gender equality in the security sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Education of police officers on gender-based violence through social networks

“Education of police officers on gender-based violence through social networks” was held on June 22, 2020 in the hotel “Hajdučke vode” in Teslić for police officers of PA Doboj and PA Prijedor.  The education is a part of the same project implemented by the Association “RS MoI Women Network – RS WPON” with the financial support of the Gender Centre – Centre for Gender Equity and Equality of the Republic of Srpska.

The education was carried out in full compliance with the recommendations of the Public Health Institute of the Republic of Srpska.

This project is financially supported by FIGAP II funds.

The Instrument for Implementation of the Gender Action Plan in BIH (FIGAP II program 2018-2020) is a result of cooperation between the Agency for Gender Equality of BiH – Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, Gender Centre of the Federation of BiH and Gender Centre of the Republic of Srpska, and is aimed to ensure sustainable implementation of the Gender Action Plan of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The program is supported by the Kingdom of Sweden, represented by the Swedish Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina, through Swedish International Development Agency SIDA. “

A round table titled “New standards and challenges in the implementation of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence in the Republic of Srpska” was held at Hotel Bosna in Banja Luka on June 18, 2020. A representative of the RS MoI Women Network – RS WPON, Željka Mileusnić, took part at this round table as an introductory speaker. The round table was organized by the Foundation United Women from Banja Luka, and is aimed for the representatives of all subjects of protection relevant to the amendments to the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence of the Republika Srpska.

An education on gender-based violence on social networks was held on March 03, 2020, in Hotel Bosna, Banja Luka for 15 police officers from PA Banja Luka and PA Mrkonjić Grad. The education is a part of the project “Education of Police Officers on Gender-based Violence on Social Networks“, which is funded by Gender Center – Center for Gender Equality of the Republic of Srpska within FIGAP II Program. The educators were police officers of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, experts on domestic violence, police affairs and high-tech crime. Conference “Days of Dialogue: The Role of Women in Social Cohesion”, Budva

On February 27 and 28, 2020, Zeljka Mileusnic, a representative of the RS MoI Women Network – RS WPON, participated at a regional conference “Days of Dialogue: The Role of Women in Social Cohesion”, organized by UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO at Avala Hotel in Budva. The conference was attended by about 100 participants from the governmental and non-governmental sector of Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Implemented activities and projects of the RS MoI Women Network in promoting gender equality and combating sexual and gender-based violence were presented at this conference.

“Gender Equal Small Arms Control – Towards Bullet-Proof Inclusion – Gender Equality Network for Small Arms Control (GENSAC) Conference”, Berlin

On February 20 and 21, 2020, Sanja Sumonja, a representative of the Association “RS MoI Women Network – RS WPON”, participated at “Gender Equal Small Arms Control – Towards Bullet-Proof Inclusion – Gender Equality Network for Small Arms Control (GENSAC) Conference”, organized by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin. On the panel “Towards Meaningful Inclusion across Region – Best Practices and Practical Lessons Learned from the Western Balkans”, held on February 20, 2020, Mrs Sumonja presented the activities of the RS Ministry of the Interior and the RS MoI Women Network. The conference was attended by about 100 representatives of various international and local organizations from North and South America, Africa, Canada and Europe. The conference conclusions pointed out the activities of the RS Ministry of the Interior Women Network as an example of exceptionally good practice and the fact that in the future they should be shared across other regions dealing with this issue.

TEAM BUILDING FOR ASSOCIATION MEMBERS

A team building for the members of the Association “RS MoI Women Network – RS WPON” was organized on November 15, 2019. The event was attended by 30 members of this Association. The team building was initiated by the members of the RS Ministry of the Interior Special Anti-Terrorist Unit. All participants were given certificates of appreciation upon the completion of the event.

Forum “Cooperation among Subjects of Protection of Domestic Violence Victims”

On September 24, 2019, a representative of the Association “RS MoI Women Network – RS WPON”, Zeljka Mileusnic, participated as a keynote speaker at the forum “Cooperation among Subjects of Protection of Domestic Violence Victims”, organized by Lara Foundation from Bijeljina, which was held at Hotel “Bosna” in Banja Luka. The representative of the RS MoI Women Network presented guidelines for improving the safety of domestic violence victims and managing security risks during the investigation and court proceedings.
